Our drinks arrived at 7:17pm we sat there with no beverage - not even a water for 1 hour. We ordered calamari and 2 crab cakes for an appetizer and 2 salmon, 1 Mahi and a medium rare ribeye for dinner and an order of coconut shrimp to go. He said it should not be a problem as we are not that busy tonight. We placed our drink order and our meal order at that time and advised our server we were on a tight schedule and made our reservation for 6:15 as we had to be to the airport by 9pm would he be able to accommodate that time frame. He disappeared again for a couple of minutes and when he returned he was actually our server too. He than left and came back with a bottle of wine and poured it for the table. When I returned to the table the people seated right before and in the same section as us not only had their drinks but the server was bringing them their appetizers. She really asked me are you sure about that? I advised her yes ma'am why else would be up here. At 20 minutes I went to the hostess stand and advised the hostess and the young man in a blue shirt (who I assumed was the manager) that we had not been brought water or even seen our server. We literally sat there for 27 minutes before our server even acknowledged us. We kind of shrugged it off and left our masks on. The patron's at the table and myself both voiced our concerns and the hostess merely told the other guests they had their chairs pushed back too far as we measured and it's 6 feet. When the hostess took us to our table it was extremely close to the table next to us, who had also just been seated as they were on the elevator before us. I had never been here and thought it would be a nice place to have dinner before he caught his flight. My son is home from the Navy before he ships off to Japan for 4 years. I was taken back by the service or should I say lack of service my family received here. The garden has lovely water features, and it’s a nice place to take family photos or selfies. If you didn’t bring quarters, ask the ticket agent if they can make change. Tickets to the tower are not sold online, so you will need to buy them at the ticket office on site. The telescopes cost 50 cents per view, so bring quarters. There is a $15 parking fee at the Tower, but the Uber driver can take you directly to the entrance without paying the parking fee. The Tower is a bit too far of a walk from the Riverwalk. The gift shop is right next to the elevator line, so we took turns browsing the gift shop while waiting in line. We didn’t watch the movie or eat at the restaurant, so I cannot comment on those. The historic buildings, like the Alamo and the missions, are tough to spot beneath all the skyscrapers.įor context, my mom and I visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon. That might be more interesting to a local resident, but to visitors, the view could be of any large city. Most of the buildings are skyscrapers and hotels. My only complaint is that the view itself is pretty boring. You get to see more of the city that way. Unless you have reasons you can't walk or your hotel is really far then I'd recommend walking. On the way back we took a horse and carriage ride so it was an all around amazing time. If you decide to park at the tower the fee is around $8 but we just walked from our hotel and it took less than 15 minutes. It was candlelight so I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the menu but the staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! I will definitely visit the tower again but the restaurant was a one time thing. My only complaint is the lighting in the restaurant. My total before tip was over 200 but it's an experience I'll never forget. It was awesome getting to eat while spinning 360 degrees with gorgeous nighttime views of the city. If you get a chance eat at the chart house restaurant which is right below the observation deck. I always forget this everytime I go and end up with really tangled hair. If you decide to walk outside be prepared for how windy it is. The observation deck has an indoor and outdoor section which is cool. The movie was cool but the seats in front squirt water on you from time to time and my jacket was pretty wet when the movie was over. If you want to see San Antonio from a bird's eye view then this is your chance! For about $15 each we were able to ride the elevator to the observation deck and watch the 4D movie at base level.
